So this works with nLite? Is this the same as Onepiece’s addon?
March 22nd, 2009 at 11:56 am
Sure it works, Bob! I test every single addon in virtual machine before publishing it here. I’m not aware of the Onepiece’s addon so I can’t say if it’s the same thing.

It’s now work. i used in nlite, xpsp3 with ie 7.0
March 23rd, 2009 at 1:38 am
Is this English only version?
March 23rd, 2009 at 5:05 am
Nope. Not working here.
March 23rd, 2009 at 7:04 am
Great work but with this we can only integrate an English version of IE8 if I’m correct.
March 23rd, 2009 at 9:09 am
Yes, it’s the English version. Nighted, is your Windows genuine?
March 23rd, 2009 at 6:05 pm
Tested and working great in latest version of nLite.
Make sure you start with a clean (not previously nLited) copy of XP.
Don’t slipstream IE7 too.
Make sure you slipstream XP SP3 first.
I don’t know if it works with the x64 version of XP, I only tested the 32 bit version.
March 23rd, 2009 at 10:16 pm
Thanks a lot, WindowsFan! This is the 32bit version of Internet Explorer, so it won’t work on x64. This addon works on WinXP SP2 (IE6) too.
March 23rd, 2009 at 11:40 pm
Not sure how WindowsFan got it working. I tried integrating IE 8 alone without any other addons or updates into a fresh XP SP3 and no dice. Anyway, I used Sereby’s addon from the nlite forum and just tested it and it’s working fine. It could be that I remove all of the DLL’s associated with Windows updates and anything relating to my OS connecting to the net in any way what-so-ever beyond my control.
Yes, my Windows is genuine…like turkey bacon.

working?
March 24th, 2009 at 10:17 am
LOL Nighted
By the way this IE8 addon works for me too (obviously). As you mentioned it could be some of the components that you remove (although my nLited Windows XP is heavily trimmed too). I have no idea.
Ali - it’s always a mess with IE and WMP addons. If it’s here on WinAddons it means it works for me and some other users. But as you can see for one reason or another it doesn’t work for everyone (components removed, pirated copy, etc. among the reasons). I guess you will just have to test it.

this addon Working fine, but have a big problem with windows update
take care

Using this, the ActiveX controls don’t pop up to install the latest versions of the windows update agent or microsoft update. I was able to download the windows update agent from microsoft to work around for windows update, but microsoft update still won’t install. Is something configured differently in this version for ActiveX controls?

PsuFan, most probably it’s a temporarily problem with MediaFire. Please try again in a few hours. If it still doesn’t work I will upload it again

Can it be slipstreamed into xp pro sp2??
September 18th, 2009 at 8:13 am
Yes, I think so.
October 8th, 2009 at 8:23 am
it works on MSDN XP sp2

I am also experiencing issues when attempting to use windows update. I also had an issue when attempting to download Microsoft Essentials and it told me that it isn’t available for my country (but I’m in the US and it works fine on my other computers). Perhaps this installer is for a particular region?

Yo!
I’m struggling so much to integrate IE8 in my nLite CD. I tried everything with this addon: put it at the top, bottom, chonological date in the hotfix list in nLite but the addon does not work: it makes the usual rebooting loop after the 1st restart during the XP install.
i used a Win XP pro SP3 CD to create my nLite CD.
do you have any ideas about how to solve this issue?
i just want to make a XP CD which install IE8… that’s it!
Thx in advance

I tried the IE8 add on it did not work for me. I have winxp sp2. I slippstreamed sp3 then ie8 but got an error that it was not for this version of windows.

This addon works flawlessly with nLite and XP SP3 but is not a proper slipstream. All it does is update the existing IE6 during the XP install rather than actually replacing any files. When you go to the Control Panel, you still have the option to uninstall IE8 and go back to IE6 (or IE7 if you have created a slipstream of that).
Anyone know of a “proper” slipstream IE8 (without any extra KB crap) for XP that actually does replace IE files and doesn’t give you the option to uninstall in Control Panel?

Vic, it seems that Microsoft denies slipstream of IE8 into XP by design: “Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 do not currently offer a solution for slipstreaming Windows components, which are built using update.exe.”

A workaround for your problem: remove the uninstall registry keys.
