  1. Mandros Says:

I’ve had some problems with this one, causing BSODS during winxp sp3 install. As soon as the install ends it wan’t to START the avira service …

That imidiatly terminates the system. I think it should not start during install but after first login. No sooner.

  2. Rado Says:

While it was working just fine when I tested it in VMware Machine 5.5 (WinXP SP2), I can’t tell if it’s 100% compatible with Service Pack 3.

  3. Kyosti Says:

This installs perfectly on WMware (+ Daemon Tools), but causes BSOD on real environment just as Mandros described. Really weird.

  4. Rah Says:

    BSOD on Virtual Box…
    whats the best alternative?

  5. Rado Says:

I tested it in VMware Machine 5.5 and it was OK. Try that.

  6. aTan Says:

BSOD in VirtualBox when integrated to SP3. Will try in real hardware.

  7. Peter Says:

Gave me a BSOD when slipstreamed with XP SP3 in a real installation.

It stepped through all of the pre-install settings fine but then crashed after that, I think during the very end of the installation.

Does it perhaps try and access the internet at the end of the installation or something?

Tis a pity because this is my favourite free Anti-Virus software.

  8. Rado Says:

Yes, I think it tries to access the Internet. I have no idea why they don’t deploy some “normal” installer that supports silent switches, etc. It’s my favorite antivirus program too.

  9. Burned Says:

JohnDoe74 has done an addon of this one. He made it a GUIRUNONCE. No more BSOD.
